April 14: To A Poet...

Picture
This poured out in ten minutes, direct from the Muse to the Poet (you know who you are). Also in the photograph there's a description of how to make a "pantoum", which I only just heard about. Maybe tomorrow? Done for day 14!

To A Poet...

…these constructions must be
discordant as a flat note
amateur as a feathered contour line
clumsy as nailed cabinetry

haltingly wrung out
from a purse of internal gibberish
I break an elegant sentence
into decorative units.

But I imagine a real poet
Sorting, digging
ordering and disordering
setting rhythm by sight
seeing where sound lies

Words as pigment and awl and reed
joining in textile
your infinite words.
