shimo bashira

Fascinated with the columns of ice that rise from the dirt of these woods. Amazed at the beauty of the Japanese term for them, shimo bashira.
霜柱 shimo bashira (Ice Needles)

Water specks
each triad a protosoul
traveling alone
and in concert
with sibling souls
enshrouded in soils warm as the blood of earth
traveling upward
to emerge
adhered to one another
in clear cold air
entwined as brittle rope
carrying specks like kayayo girls packing wellwater
over dryly frozen mud cracks
far below the woods floor
of my own earth.
